Real Madrid Want to Sign Argentine Midfielder

Real Madrid

Football fans already know about the Spanish sports newspaper Marca. Sometimes, their stories seem unbelievable—but they always sound confident. Their reports on Real Madrid often spark fresh debates. Now, there’s a new transfer rumor making headlines.

Real Madrid are said to be interested in Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. Even though Liverpool recently extended the contracts of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, they haven’t yet offered a new deal to Alexander-Arnold. This has sparked more transfer talk about the English defender.

At the same time, reports say Real Madrid are also looking at Liverpool’s Argentine midfielder Alexis McAllister.

For years, Madrid’s midfield relied on Casemiro, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric. Now, Casemiro plays for Manchester United, Kroos has retired, and Modric is nearing the end of his career. So, the club is building a new midfield with players like Tchouaméni, Bellingham, and Camavinga.

Still, Spanish media say Madrid are considering McAllister as a key part of their future, possibly seeing him as a player similar to Kroos—calm, creative, and good at controlling the game.

According to Marca, Real Madrid are keeping an eye on Mac Allister’s performances. The team has dropped points several times this season and sees the improving Liverpool midfielder as a good fit. While they were first interested in Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, they are now focusing more on Mac Allister. The 15-time European champions think he could be a strong addition to their squad.

McAllister has scored four goals and made four assists for Liverpool in the Premier League this season. In total, he has six goals. He’s also played very well for Argentina, scoring two goals in World Cup qualifiers and giving two assists in five games at the 2024 Copa America. He’s strong in both attack and defense, so it’s no surprise that Real Madrid might be interested in him.

However, after the transfer rumor came up, Liverpool fans might feel better after hearing what his father, Carlos McAllister, said. In a radio interview, the former Argentina player said, “I don’t think he’ll leave right now. Time will tell. Alexis is happy where he is.” He also shared that Alexis lives in Manchester near his Liverpool teammates Robertson and Gomez, and close to Lisandro Martinez, who plays for Manchester United.
