Real Madrid Has Chosen Their New Coach, Says Madrid Media

Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti’s exit from Real Madrid looks almost certain. Unless something unexpected happens, one of the most successful managers in club football will become Brazil’s new coach next June. Two major sources — The Athletic and Sky Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano — have confirmed this update about Ancelotti. They reported that he will leave Real Madrid and take over the Brazil national team before the Club World Cup.

This will officially close Ancelotti’s chapter at Real Madrid. He had two spells at the club — first from 2013 to 2015, when he famously led them to their 10th Champions League title, ‘La Decima.’ Then he returned in June 2021 and added more success, winning two La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies across both terms.

Now, the big question is: who will Real Madrid choose to replace him? Right now, the club may go with a temporary coach for the Club World Cup. The favorites for the interim role are either Carlo Ancelotti’s son, David Ancelotti, or the club’s current sporting director, Santiago Solari.

David Ancelotti is very well-liked among the Real Madrid players. Since earning his UEFA Pro License, he has been playing an important role both in the dressing room and during matches. Even though David is interested in becoming a full-time head coach, there are other options too. Santiago Solari, who once served as Real Madrid’s interim coach, is also remembered for supporting the club during tough times.

Meanwhile, new updates have come from Matteo Moretto, a journalist at Madrid-based sports outlet Relevo. According to him, Real Madrid is now seriously considering Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso as their next coach after the Italian manager leaves. Moretto reports that there have already been several discussions between Real Madrid and Alonso. He says that Xabi Alonso is now just “one step” away from becoming the club’s new coach.

Xabi Alonso has had a fantastic spell with Bayer Leverkusen, even making history by leading them to an unbeaten Bundesliga season. After that success, there were strong rumors about him joining Real Madrid, but it didn’t happen then. Liverpool also tried to get him, but Alonso turned that offer down too.

Xabi Alonso, who was part of Spain’s 2010 World Cup-winning team, played many years for Real Madrid. Now, the former defensive midfielder might return to Los Blancos as their new coach.
