Hours after Amit Mishra retired from all forms of cricket on Thursday, September 4, allegations of his involvement in age fraud have resurfaced. Mishra had admitted to this during a podcast in July last year.
“Let me tell you that I have a gap of one year and my coach helped me with that. I didn’t even know about it. The coach called my home and asked for one more year for me. It was quite an emotional story. I was surprised and I asked, ‘How?’ He said, ‘From today you have become one year younger; now you have two more years.’ I agreed,” Mishra had said in a podcast video on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel.

Mishra has played 68 international matches (22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20Is) for India and has taken 76, 64 and 16 wickets respectively across the three formats. Mishra played his last international match in February 2017, when he was dropped from the team following the emergence of wrist spinners like Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.
Talking about Mishra’s IPL career, he played for four franchises in his 16-season long career, representing Delhi Capitals from 2008 to 2010, Deccan Chargers in 2011 and 2012, Delhi Capitals from 2015 to 2021 and Lucknow Super Giants in 2023 and 2024.
