Arsenal Draw Again, Liverpool Move Closer to Title

Arsenal

Are celebrations starting in Liverpool and at Anfield? They could be! The red ribbons might soon be back on the Premier League trophy. If Liverpool avoids a loss against Tottenham on the 29th, they will win the English league title once again.

Things could’ve been settled even earlier if Crystal Palace had beaten Arsenal. But considering team strength, Arsenal were expected to win. Still, Palace managed a surprise 2-2 draw, even though Arsenal took the lead twice.

Now, Arsenal has 67 points from 34 matches. Liverpool, with one game in hand, has 79 points. Even if Arsenal wins all their remaining games and Liverpool loses theirs, both teams would be level on points. But Liverpool has a much better goal difference, which gives them a clear edge.

In simple terms, the title is now almost in Liverpool’s hands.

Arsenal started strong at home against Crystal Palace. In just the 3rd minute, Dzhakov Kiewors scored with a header from an Odegaard free-kick. Palace pushed hard for a quick reply and kept attacking. Their efforts paid off in the 27th minute when Eberechi Eze scored a brilliant right-footed volley to make it 1-1.

But Arsenal took the lead again before halftime. In the 42nd minute, Leandro Trossard scored, marking his fourth game in a row with a goal. Arsenal led 2-1 at the break.

The second half didn’t have as many goals, but it was still full of action. Crystal Palace kept fighting and finally equalized in the 83rd minute. Jean-Philippe Mateta, just three minutes after coming on, scored with a smart chip from 20 yards out.

The match ended 2-2, a result that pushes Liverpool even closer to winning the league title.
