Recently, Virat Kohli had supported taking the family along on foreign tours.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma along with the players of the Indian cricket team have been given a big shock by the BCCI. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said on Wednesday that the Board of Control for Cricket in India will not change its current guidelines for taking family along on foreign tours. Recently, Virat Kohli had supported taking family along on foreign tours.
After this, many reports came out the next day, claiming that perhaps the BCCI may decide to relax the rule regarding families. Devjit Sakia told Cricbuzz, “At this time the current policy will remain in place, as it is of utmost importance to both the nation and our institution, the BCCI.
The BCCI recognizes that there may be some resentment or different opinions on this matter. In a domestic setup, people are entitled to express their views. This policy applies equally to all team members – players, coaches, managers, support staff and everyone involved and has been implemented keeping in mind the best interests of all.”
BCCI implemented this rule after the defeat on Australia tour
Let us tell you that, after India’s 1–3 defeat in the five-Test series in Australia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India issued a directive that cricketers can keep their families with them for a maximum of 14 days in a tour of more than 45 days. According to the guidelines, players can keep their families with them for a maximum of one week on a tour of less than this period.
Regarding this rule, Virat Kohli said during RCB’s ‘Innovation Lab’ conference on Saturday, “It is very difficult to explain the role of family to people. How important it is to come back to your family every time you are in a stressful situation. I don’t think people understand its importance.”
