Bowlers will have a great time in IPL 2025, BCCI is going to bring back a years old rule

IPL 2025

IPL is starting from 22nd March.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering bringing a new rule for IPL 2025. The board is considering lifting the ban on applying saliva on the ball in this season of the Indian Premier League starting on March 22. This proposal has been discussed in detail in the BCCI. The photoshoot of the captains of all the IPL teams is to be held in Mumbai today i.e. Thursday 20 March.

During this time, this proposal will be placed in front of the captains of all the IPL teams. If they agree, then the bowlers can use saliva this season. Let us tell you that, as a precaution during the Corona epidemic, the ICC had banned the age-old practice of applying saliva on the ball to shine it. The ICC made this ban permanent in 2022.

The IPL also included this rule in the playing conditions of the tournament after the Corona epidemic, but the guidelines of the IPL are slightly different than those of the ICC. If the board wants, then this rule can be implemented again that bowlers can apply saliva on the ball.

BCCI chief gave a big statement

A top BCCI official told the media, “It was common to apply saliva on the ball before Corona. Now that there is no threat of Corona, there is no harm in lifting the ban on applying saliva on the ball in IPL. We understand that it has a huge impact on red ball cricket and it also helps the bowlers a bit in the white ball format. It should be allowed in IPL. Let’s see what the captain decides on this. “

During the ICC Champions Trophy, India’s experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami had said that there is a need to apply saliva on the ball, otherwise this game will completely go in favor of the batsmen. South Africa’s Vernon Philander and New Zealand’s Tim Southee also supported it.
