The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced its Game-Changing BCCI Central Contracts for the 2024–25 season, grabbing attention with Rishabh Pant’s much-anticipated promotion and the surprising returns of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. This updated contract list features 34 players and is effective from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025. Divided into four categories—A+, A, B, and C—the list reflects the BCCI’s revamped selection strategy. These Game-Changing BCCI Central Contracts signify a bold shift in Indian cricket, with rising talents, tactical upgrades, and notable omissions reshaping the future of the national team.
Rishabh Pant Promoted as BCCI Releases Game-Changing BCCI Central Contracts List
In a major boost for Rishabh Pant, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter has been elevated from Category B to A under the Game-Changing BCCI Central Contracts, joining elite company including Mohammed Shami, KL Rahul, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya. His promotion comes after a resilient comeback, proving his worth in white-ball cricket.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan return to the Game-Changing BCCI Central Contracts list after missing out previously. Iyer has been slotted into Category B, alongside Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The top-tier Category A+ remains unchanged, featuring India’s cricketing pillars: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja.
There was significant movement in Category C of the Game-Changing BCCI Central Contracts, where young talents like Nitish Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, Harshit Rana, Sarfaraz Khan, and Dhruv Jurel have made their debut in the central contract list. Akash Deep, previously holding a fast-bowling contract, has now been promoted into Category C.
However, it wasn’t all good news. Shardul Thakur, Jitesh Sharma, KS Bharat, Avesh Khan, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal, and Vidwath Kaverappa have all missed out this year. Notably, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently retired from international cricket, has been excluded as expected.
