ICC Champions Trophy Breaks Viewership Records: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced unprecedented broadcast figures following the conclusion of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, hosted across Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. With a remarkable total of 368 billion global viewing minutes, this year’s edition has become the most-watched Champions Trophy in history, surpassing the 2017 tournament in England and Wales by 19%.
The tournament’s appeal was further solidified by 308 million global viewing minutes per over, a record across all ICC events. The electrifying final in Dubai on March 9, where India triumphed over New Zealand to secure the title, became the most-watched match in Champions Trophy history, generating 65.3 billion live viewing minutes. This shattered the previous record set during the 2017 final by over 52%.
A Landmark in Cricket Broadcasting Across Key Markets

That historic finale now ranks as the third most-watched ICC match globally by live viewing time. In India, it sits just behind two major matches from the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023: the India vs New Zealand semi-final and the final against Australia. The 2025 Champions Trophy’s massive reach was made possible through broadcasts in nine languages across 29 channels, complemented by inclusive innovations like Indian Sign Language feeds and audio descriptive commentary.
In India alone, it became the most viewed Champions Trophy to date. The tournament also set a new benchmark in digital engagement, with the vertical MaxView feed, developed in collaboration with the ICC, delivering an intuitive mobile-first experience and contributing to the highest share of digital watch time ever recorded for an ICC event in the country.
Australia followed suit, with viewership rising by 65% compared to 2017, making it the country’s most-watched edition. The introduction of a Hindi-language commentary stream and exclusive streaming on Amazon Prime Video fueled this growth. In the United States, despite time zone challenges, watch time increased by 38% compared to the last Champions Trophy. In Pakistan, even though the hosts fell short of a repeat title win, national viewership surged by 24% compared to their victorious 2017 campaign.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed his enthusiasm over the record-breaking success, stating: “We are delighted to share that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has achieved record-breaking global viewership, making it the most-watched edition of the tournament to date. These remarkable numbers reflect the growing global appeal of the game and the strength of our partnerships.”
Shah credited the innovative efforts by the JioStar network for helping to drive deeper audience engagement. “We are especially grateful for the continued innovation and investment in India, which delivered live coverage across 29 broadcast feeds in nine languages,” he said.
He also praised the growth in new markets: “It’s heartening to witness exceptional growth in markets such as Australia and the United States. These milestones are a testament to the expanding global footprint of cricket and the passion of fans across continents.”
