KL Rahul did not play the first match for Delhi Capitals.
India wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul’s wife Athiya Shetty gave birth to a daughter on Monday (March 24). Rahul was not available for the first match for Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2025 due to the birth of his daughter. Delhi started their campaign in the 18th season with a thrilling one-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The match was played in Visakhapatnam.
Delhi Capitals now have to play their second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on the same ground on March 30. In such a situation, a big update has come about Rahul. There is every possibility of him playing in the second match. It is being said that he will be available for the second match.
KL Rahul will be available for DC vs SRH match
According to the Times of India report, 32-year-old Rahul will be available for the DC vs SRH match. Rahul had joined the camp before Delhi’s season opener but on Sunday night suddenly returned from Visakhapatnam to his wife in Mumbai. He was given special permission by Delhi’s management. Rahul married Bollywood actress Athiya on 23 January 2023. Both have become parents for the first time.
Rahul was bought by Delhi for Rs 14 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He was earlier in LSG. Rahul is in great form. He was part of the Indian team that won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He scored 140 runs in four innings of five matches in the Champions Trophy. He returned unbeaten three times. However, Rahul is struggling to make a comeback in India’s T20 team. He played the last T20 International match in 2022.
In such a situation, Rahul will be looking to make a strong claim in the Indian T20 team by making a splash in the IPL. Rahul has so far scored 4683 runs in 132 IPL matches in his career at an average of 45.47, including four centuries and 37 half-centuries.
