Krishnamachari Srikkanth picks KL Rahul over Sarfaraz Khan for first test: There are still a few days left for the start of the two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh (IND vs BAN). The first Test is to be played between the two teams in Chennai from September 19 and for this the BCCI has also announced the Indian squad.
For this reason, discussions have already started regarding the playing 11 for the first Test, in which the names of some players among the batsmen are completely decided but the debate continues about KL Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan, because only one of these batsmen will be able to be a part of the final eleven.

The BCCI announced the squad on Saturday as soon as the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024 ended. Many players were shown the way out but both KL Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan managed to make it. However, now there are media reports that Rahul may get a chance in the playing 11 and Sarfaraz may have to sit out.
BCCI has also given a hint regarding this and has also selected Sarfaraz for the second round of Duleep Trophy despite being a part of Team India’s squad. In such a situation, some fans on social media are calling Rahul’s inclusion in the playing 11 wrong, but 1983 World Cup winning squad member Krishnamachari Srikkanth has a different opinion.
Srikkanth Justified KL Rahul’s Selection
On his YouTube channel, Srikkanth reacted to Rahul’s return and said that considering the long Test season of Team India, the selection of this Karnataka batsman is perfect. However, one feels bad for Sarfaraz Khan. Srikkanth said,
“Honestly, I feel bad for Sarfaraz Khan. But, this happens many times in Test cricket. You are playing well but when a big player makes a comeback, you have to lose your place. Like Rishabh Pant’s return will not give Dhruv Jurel a chance to play. Similarly, Sarfaraz Khan had to lose his place due to KL Rahul’s return. New Zealand and Australia series are also being kept in mind. KL Rahul has performed well abroad and has also achieved success in Australia.”
