Mavi Shares Thoughts on IPL and India

“You’ve played all your international matches under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. Do you feel he has supported you enough?”
“He supported me, but I didn’t understand why I didn’t get opportunities in the IPL later. I needed to perform well to return to the Indian team, yet I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t given enough chances.”
“Since you were dropped from the Indian team, have the selectors or management reached out to you at all?”
No, I didn’t get any communication from anyone.
“Chennai Super Kings is special because I’ve always heard that Mahi bhai is a bowler’s captain. He gives us a lot of freedom and makes things easier by setting the field. As bowlers, we just have to focus on delivering the ball correctly. There’s so much to learn from him.”
“During the IPL, you met MS Dhoni several times. What is the most valuable advice he gave you?”
He told me that in T20 cricket, even if you give away 40 runs in a few overs, the most important thing is bowling the last over well. If you can concede just 6-7 runs and take 1-2 wickets, you can help your team win. Every ball counts and must be bowled correctly. Young players often worry too much when hit for a six, which creates extra pressure. But if you prepare and focus on each delivery, the pressure naturally goes away.
