Pratika Rawal Praises Natural Bond with Smriti Mandhana Ahead of IND-W vs AUS-W 2025 Clash

Pratika Rawal

Pratika Rawal has been one of the most reliable batters for India since making her debut in December 2024 against West Indies in Vadodara. In the current three-match ODI series against Australia, she has scored 64 and 25 runs in the first two games.

So far, Rawal has played 16 ODI innings and scored 792 runs at an impressive average of 52.80 with a strike rate of 84.97. Her record includes one century and six half-centuries.

She recently shared her thoughts, saying her main goal is to be an important player for the Indian team. The 25-year-old talked about her bond with opening partner Smriti Mandhana. Rawal also said she has enjoyed leadership roles since childhood. She described how she felt when she was selected for India’s squad for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup.

Building a Strong Mindset

“I have a clear mindset and often imagine how I want to grow, which helps me mentally prepare. While team meetings and strategies are important, I focus more on helping the team than just personal goals. Being a valuable player for the team is, for me, the biggest way I can contribute,” Rawal said on JioHotstar’s special show ‘Off the Pitch’.

Strong Opening Partnership

Pratika Rawal

“I feel it’s very easy and natural playing with her. We don’t need to talk much during the game—she does her part, I do mine. Our understanding feels natural, not forced. Even off the field, we are both quiet at times, though we have a balance of being social too. We connect without extra effort. On the field, our focus is always the next ball, and everything else falls into place. I enjoy batting with her a lot, especially watching how she plays every ball so confidently. It’s truly amazing.”

On responsibility and leadership

As a child, I loved taking responsibility and being a leader at school. I always wanted to be the class monitor. Even though I sat at the back, I consistently topped my exams. My teachers supported me and never pressured me, which helped me grow in my own way. I have always enjoyed leadership and responsibility. Even now, I see it as an honor that pushes me to be my best. As a young cricketer starting to play for India, it feels special that the country trusts me to perform.
