Rajasthan Royals’ young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dismissed for a two-ball duck in Thursday’s IPL match, just days after making headlines as the youngest player to score a T20 century.
The 14-year-old left-handed opener stunned everyone earlier this week with a blazing 35-ball hundred, earning praise for his fearless style and powerful batting in just his fourth IPL game.
Nicknamed “Boss Baby,” Suryavanshi has quickly drawn comparisons to Chris Gayle, known as the “Universe Boss.”
However, against the Mumbai Indians, fans hoping for another big show were left disappointed as the teenager was out for zero.
The IPL has long been a platform for emerging stars like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jasprit Bumrah, but a 14-year-old making such waves is unprecedented.
Cricket experts have cautioned him about the challenges of early fame. Rajasthan’s head coach Rahul Dravid reminded everyone at a Star Sports press conference that Suryavanshi is still at the start of his journey.
“He’s very talented, but there’s still a lot of work ahead,” Dravid said. “We shouldn’t rush to label him too soon—he’s got to keep learning and improving.”
