Former Kabaddi star Deepak Hooda found himself in legal trouble after his wife, Saweety Boora, accused him of dowry harassment in February.

In a shocking incident, the Pro Kabaddi League champion and former Indian captain was allegedly assaulted by Saweety inside a police station. Saweety, a renowned Indian boxer, had earlier filed a complaint against Hooda, citing repeated harassment over dowry demands.

On February 25, an FIR was registered against Deepak Hooda at the women’s police station in Hisar, Haryana. The news of their dispute left fans disappointed. In an effort to resolve the issue, mutual friends encouraged the couple to attend counseling sessions, one of which was scheduled at Mahila Thana.

Before the session, Saweety Boora held a press conference where she made several allegations against Hooda. She also revealed that she had attempted suicide multiple times due to ongoing abuse.

She reaffirmed her decision to seek a divorce from her husband, emphasizing that she does not want any financial support from him. However, the boxer accused her husband of refusing to grant her the divorce. The situation escalated on Monday when the two found themselves in the same room for a counseling session at the Hisar Police Station.

During the heated exchange, Saweety lashed out at Deepak before their relatives intervened to diffuse the situation. It is unfortunate to witness two accomplished Indian athletes, both of whom have brought pride to the nation, facing such turmoil in their personal lives. Notably, both are recipients of the prestigious Arjuna Award, India’s highest sporting honor.

Deepak has endured a challenging few years, losing both his captaincy of the Indian team and his place in the national squad. Adding to his struggles, he went unsold in the PKL auctions despite being recognized as one of the sport’s top all-rounders. He even ventured into politics, contesting in the Haryana Assembly elections, but faced defeat. Indian fans hope that peace and stability return to both their lives soon.
