The last time RCB finished in the top two, they played against Gujarat Lions in Qualifier 1. Led by Virat Kohli, RCB won by four wickets. They chased a target of 159 runs in 18.2 overs at their home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. For Gujarat Lions, Dwayne Smith scored the most runs with 73 off 41 balls. Shane Watson was the best bowler for RCB, taking four wickets.
After RCB lost half their players very early with only 29 runs, AB de Villiers played an amazing innings. Stuart Binny stayed with him and together they added 39 runs. When the score was 68 for 6 after 10 overs, RCB were in a tough situation.
Iqbal Abdullah scored his best IPL runs, staying not out with 33 runs from 25 balls. But most of the runs came from de Villiers, who scored an unbeaten 79 runs from 47 balls.
