Why Rashid Khan is flopping with the ball in IPL 2025, coach Ashish told the big reason

Rashid Khan

In IPL 2025, Rashid Khan has taken just 4 wickets in 6 matches and has been quite expensive as well.

Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan has not been able to do anything special in the Indian Premier League 2025 so far. Rashid has taken only 4 wickets in 6 matches and has conceded runs at the rate of almost 10 per over. Rashid’s figures this season are much below his standard. His line length has been so poor that he could not even bowl his quota of 4 overs in the match against Mumbai Indians this season.

Gujarat’s assistant coach Ashish Kapoor elaborated on the spinner’s struggles this season and why the Afghan spinner has failed to make a mark with the ball this season. Kapoor started by saying that Rashid was struggling with back pain last season, due to which he had to undergo surgery after the last IPL.

Gujarat’s assistant coach told the reason for Rashid Khan’s poor performance

Ashish Kapoor said, “Rashid Khan was suffering from a back injury last year and underwent surgery. When you are in pain during the match, you make slight changes in your action to reduce the pain. After 2-3 matches this year, we have talked about some things.

Where he needs to make some adjustments with his front hand, which is closed, whereas it should be towards the batsman. He is doing that now and bowling better lengths in the last two-three matches.”

The consistent progress that the assistant coach has talked about in Rashid Khan has been seen in his bowling in the last two matches. Rashid has taken 3 out of 4 wickets in the last 2 matches. Gujarat will expect Rashid to be at his best against Delhi Capitals, who have won 5 of their 6 matches.
