Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has recently given a statement in which he has predicted that Pakistan’s current white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten will be removed from the team after the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Along with this, he said that if the Pakistan team is able to make it to the top four in this tournament, it will be a big achievement for Pakistan cricket.

However, despite Kirsten’s guidance, Pakistan suffered an extremely poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2024, where the team was eliminated in the group stage itself. Looking at the recent performance, Basit Ali said that Kirsten will not continue in his job after the Champions Trophy 2025.

“Congratulations to Gary Kirsten, he will be with the team till the Champions Trophy. However, he will be sacked after the Champions Trophy. I am already saying that it will be ‘tata, bye bye’ for him. If Pakistan manages to make it to the top four, it will be a big achievement for him. He has also stepped into the politics of Pakistan cricket, he will not succeed.”
Kirsten has given advice to the players
Gary Kirsten recently advised the players to follow three main principles so that the lost glory of Pakistan cricket can be brought back. He has appealed to the players to focus on team unity and performance.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently organized a ‘connection camp’ to overcome the lack of unity within the team. Kirsten also participated in this camp and he stressed the need for change in the team.
